Downtown Baltimore Museums and Monuments
American Visionary Art Museum – Located in downtown Baltimore, the American Visionary Art Museum refers to itself as "a monument to the failure of words". Peruse the 35,000-square-foot main building with six art galleries. Wend your way up the magnificent metal staircase. Enter the Tall Barn and admire the “We Are Not Alone: Angels and Other Aliens” exhibit.

Baltimore Museum of Art This museum is free and open to the public. View ever-changing exhibitions as well as its various collections. Study the colorful work of Henri Matisse. Appreciate the detail of African headdresses and masks. Understand the hidden language of the Qing dynasty in elaborate embroidered silk textiles.

B & O Railroad Museum – On the National Historic landmark, the B & O Railroad Museum collects and preserves early American railroading artifacts, especially those from the Baltimore & Ohio, Chesapeake & Ohio, Western Maryland and other mid-Atlantic lines. Discover nearly 200 items from locomotives and rolling stock dating from 1830 to the present.

Fort
McHenry National Monument – Visit the site that became the inspiration for "The Star-Spangled Banner". Fort McHenry National Monument is where Francis Scott Key penned our national anthem. Attend a twilight ceremony. Take a self-guided tour of the fort, used during the Battle of Baltimore.

Port Discovery – This interactive museum delights young and old alike. Make like a monkey and climb a giant tree. Encourage kids to try out professions like being a waitress at the "diner" or as a farmer. Kick a soccer ball around. Visit perennial favorites like the Charlie Brown exhibit.

USS Constellation – Built in 1854, the USS Constellation is the last Civil War vessel still afloat. It was brought to the Inner Harbor in 1999. Climb on board and enjoy the panoramic vistas of the harbor. Take a tour to learn about its fascinating history.
